Most used car loan guides tell you to "check your CIBIL score" and "compare interest rates." Fine, but that's not where people actually lose money. The real damage happens in two blind spots nobody warns you about: the car's paperwork (is it even legally clean to buy?) and the loan's fine print (is 100% financing calculated on a number that helps you or hurts you?). What else affects your sanctioned amount:
Existing relationship with the lender. Repeat customers with a clean repayment history sometimes get more favourable rates. Loyalty works in your favour here.
Documents you'll need:
Run the numbers on an EMI calculator before you commit. Selecting the loan amount, rate, and tenure upfront tells you the real monthly outflow.
If you're transferring an RC within Kerala, the process still runs through your local RTO, and delays are common when documentation is incomplete on the first attempt. Get your Form 35 and NOC sorted before you visit. Muthoot Capital also runs in-person branches in Kerala if you'd rather sort financing details in person instead of over a call centre queue.
Before you sign anything:
Buying a used car isn't complicated. Handle the paperwork and get the math right, and a used car is genuinely one of the smarter buys you can make.
